General Dynamics to assist Interior with resource management

General Dynamics Corp. will furnish a variety of information management services to the Interior Department under a task order potentially worth $10.5 million over five years, company officials said April 20.

The company will support MMS’ Office of Information Management and regional program offices that manage mineral resources on the outer continental shelf as part of the Offshore Energy and Minerals Management (OEMM) program.

Under the task order, General Dynamics will provide data collection, analysis, imaging, and data retrieval and delivery services to the department’s Minerals Management Service, the officials said.

General Dynamics also will establish and administer quality assurance standards and policies, perform comparative analysis on oil and gas data, maintain records, and assist in editing and publication support. The company will do the work in New Orleans.

The work will support MMS’ Office of Information Management and regional program offices that manage mineral resources on the outer continental shelf as part of the OEMM program.

The OEMM program oversees competitive oil and gas lease sales, negotiates noncompetitive leases for sand and gravel, and manages the mineral development process. The Office of Information Management coordinates and plans the Gulf of Mexico Region's information management systems that have broad applications in regional and offshore program areas.
