In a recent Washington Technology article, industry experts discussed how servers specifically designed for virtualization and cloud computing perform better and use vastly less power than traditional hardware.
Virtualization will work on existing infrastructures, but agencies should consider getting optimized hardware when buying new servers, the experts said. One of the best times for agencies to consider hardware upgrades is when virtualization projects move beyond pilot programs to full-scale or near full-scale projects, according to experts at Cisco and Intel.
