Former key NSA official relocates to Silicon Valley

Prescott Winter, formerly chief information officer and chief technology officer at the National Security Agency, has joined ArcSight Inc., a Silicon Valley developer of security and compliance management tools for government and private industry.

He will serve as CTO of the Cupertino, Calif., company’s Public Sector division, according to an ArcSight announcement today.

Winter will drive strategic product initiatives and industry relationships concerning public sector cyber-security requirements in the United States and internationally, as well as facilitate collaboration between the public and private sector on the global cyber-threat landscape, the statement said.

In addition to his senior roles at NSA, Winter most recently was associate deputy director for information integration in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where he established a national scale program to integrate and share information across the intelligence community.

Winter began his NSA career in 1982.
