NASA has broken its planned $4.3 billion information technology services consolidation program into five contracts.
NASA has broken its planned $4.3 billion information technology services consolidation program into five contracts.
1. Agency Consolidated End-User Services
Purpose: Program management and support for PCs, cell phones and personal digital assistants. The requirements are currently met through NASA’s Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA (ODIN) contract.
Status: Request for proposals released Jan. 25.
Value: $2.5 billion over 10 years.
2. NASA Enterprise Data Center
Purpose: Data center operations, facility management, storage and hosting services. Those requirements are currently met under the Unified NASA Information Technology Services (Unites) contract and other contracts.
Status: Final RFP pending.
Value: $1.5 billion over nine years.
3. NASA Integrated Communications Services
Purpose: Wide-area network services, local-area network services, telecommunications services, video services and data services. The requirements are currently met under ODIN and Unites, among other contracts.
Status: RFP issued Dec. 11.
Value: $200 million over three years.
4. Enterprise Applications Service Technologies
Purpose: Support services for NASA’s Enterprise Applications Competency Center. The requirements are currently met through the Unites contract.
Status: RFP issued Jan. 6.
Value: $100 million over five years.
5. Web Enterprise Service Technologies
Purpose: Public Web site hosting, Web content management, messaging and calendar services. The requirements are currently met under the ODIN contract and the agency’s Web Portal Services contract.
Status: RFP issued Dec. 4.
Value: $38.5 million over five years.
