Science Applications International Corp. is strengthening its cybersecurity business with the acquisition of CloudShield Technologies Inc., a cybersecurity and management solutions provider.

Financial terms of the acquisition, which was completed Wednesday, were not disclosed.

CloudShield, of Sunnyvale, Calif., provides services management and infrastructure security solutions to service providers and national governments worldwide, an SAIC announcement said.

The company’s deep packet inspection (DPI) platform and applications enable customers to inspect, analyze and control all network traffic, lower costs, securing infrastructure and generating new revenue streams.

The acquisition will enhance SAIC’s cybersecurity offerings and help bring to market DPI solutions for high-speed networks, which will enable the company to better meet emerging customer requirements in U.S. federal government and commercial markets, the announcement said.

CloudShield’s 115 employees will join SAIC’s Intelligence and Information Solutions business unit, which is part of the Intelligence, Security and Technology Group.

Last month SAIC acquired Science, Engineering and Technology Associates. SET, as the company was known, was founded in 2002 by former Defense Advanced Research Project Agency scientists.
