Networx transition crawls to 26.5 percent

Find opportunities — and win them.

Agencies have made 98 awards during the last three months, but the transition still only has reached 26.5 percent.

Federal agencies since early June have made 98 fair opportunity awards under the General Services Administration’s Networx Universal and Enterprise telecommunications contracts. As of Sept. 3, agencies have completed transitioning 26.5 percent of services from FTS2001 to Networx; with the new awards, carriers and agencies can begin the often lengthy transition process. GSA’s list of 98 fair opportunity decisions — 36 under Networx Enterprise and 62 under Networx Universal — were made by agencies and subagencies, predominantly from the Defense and State departments, and from GSA itself. and split various voice and conferencing services Universal awards from several Defense Department agencies, including the Defense Information Systems Agency and the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. Qwest in June collected 27 awards from State for Web hosting and content distribution network services under its Networx Enterprise contract; Qwest also holds a Networx Universal contract. The Qwest awards by State follow the agency’s awards in May to AT&T Government Solutions, valued by AT&T at $45 million. GSA assigned no values to the awards; the agency in March estimated the values for the first list of awards it released. However, in the first monthly meeting of the Interagency Management Council Networx Transition Working Group, agency representatives passed a resolution that barred GSA from releasing further fair-opportunity decision value estimates. Verizon as primary and as secondary shared 30 Universal awards to handle private line services for GSA. Networx Enterprise contract holder Sprint Nextel Federal Programs collected three awards: one from the Justice Department for virtual private network services and a pair of awards to handle all services for the National Endowment for the Humanities.
