HP to supply California public sectors with PCs

Hewlett Packard Co. will provide cash-strapped California with a broad range of computers and display terminals under a four-year contract worth up to $80 million annually.

The competitively bid contract from California’s Department of General Services calls for HP to provide notebook, tablet, workstation and desktop PCs and display units for statewide public-sector segments such as education, public safety and health care.

Close relationships throughout the bid process with systems integrators Western Blue and Insight Public Sector contributed to the selection of HP as the technology provider, a company statement said.

The desktop, workstation, tablet and notebook PC products have an Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool gold rating and are Energy Star qualified, HP said.

Hewlett-Packard, of Palo Alto, Calif., ranks No. 12 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
