General Dynamics wins Marine Corps operations center work
A General Dynamics unit will furnish the Marine Corps with on-the-ground operations equipment, networks and technical support for the force’s mobile Combat Operations Center (COC) program.
A General Dynamics unit will furnish the Marine Corps with on-the-ground operations equipment, networks and technical support for the force’s mobile Combat Operations Center (COC) program, through a five-year, $86.2 million contract.
The operations centers consist of networks of workstations and servers used to manage data at the tactical level and support additional software used in the theater, officials at General Dynamics Information Technology said in a statement today. The systems are composed of tents, trailers, radios, power and environmental generation, and visual displays that offer an integrated command and control capability, the officials said.
The COC program is a critical decision-making tool for Marines in the field, they said.
The company will do the work at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Camp Pendleton, Calif.; Kaneohe, Hawaii; Okinawa, Japan; and in Southwest Asia.
General Dynamics Corp. ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
