CSC to continue NASA aviation support

Computer Sciences Corp. will continue providing aviation services to NASA under a contract potentially worth $162 million over 30 months.

The company will maintain and modify aircraft supporting NASA programs, company officials said Sept. 8. Specifically, the company will furnish microgravity testing and space shuttle pilot training at several key facilities, including Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas; Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; and Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va.

CSC also will furnish flight operations, technical data management and T-38 depot maintenance services.

The services will support two Boeing 747s modified to transport the space shuttle, several Gulfstream jets configured to simulate space shuttle flight characteristics, NASA’s T-38 trainers, and other special aircraft serving the agency’s mission.

The award was made through the Johnson Space Center Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Program.
