KBR reorganizes to expand federal and defense business

KBR Inc. is stepping up its push into the federal and defense contracting arena with the formation of the Government, Defense and Infrastructure Business Group.

The new unit supersedes the current Government and Infrastructure Business Group and will serve existing and future customers in North America, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and Australia, a company announcement said today.

After evaluating the various strategies, customers, activities and projects, it was determined that the current Government and Infrastructure Business should become a business group to oversee KBR’s activities in the Government, Defense and Infrastructure markets, William Utt, KBR chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in the statement.

As a result of the reorganization, Bill Bodie, currently senior vice president for government and infrastructure customer relations and strategy, has been named senior vice president for North American government and defense.

Bodie will oversee the new North American Government and Defense Business Unit, which will be responsible for KBR’s activities on behalf of U.S. and other North American government and defense customers.

Andrew Pringle, currently Vice President for Government and Infrastructure’s Europe, Africa and Middle East Government and Defense business, has been appointed senior vice president for international government and defense.

He will be responsible for non-North American government and defense activities, including KBR’s present activities for the UK Ministry of Defence and the Australian Department of Defence.

KBR, of Houston, ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
