General Dynamics steams ahead with Navy sealift deal
General Dynamics Information Technology has received a $47 million contract from the Navy's Military Sealift Command.
General Dynamics Information Technology will help modernize systems on the Navy’s Military Sealift Command vessels under a five-year contract potentially worth $47 million.
General Dynamics IT will furnish engineering support for the modernization of the main engines and auxiliary systems on the vessels through the Naval Surface Warfare Center, company officials said in a statement released today.
The contractor will perform the work at several locations, including Bremerton, Wash.; San Diego; Philadelphia; Norfolk, Va.; Honolulu; Gaeta, Italy; Yokosuka, Japan; and Guam.
The Military Sealift Command’s mission is to deliver supplies and conduct operations around the world.
General Dynamics IT is a unit of General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va. The parent company ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
