CSC to support DOD communications infrastructure

Computer Sciences Corp. will furnish systems engineering and program support services to the Army project manager responsible for maintaining communications transmission systems under a contract potentially worth $226 million over three years.

Under the contract, CSC will provide project and technical management, systems engineering, and training services to the Project Manager for Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (PM DCATS), company officials said May 11. The contractor also will supply related research, design and development services, the officials said.

PM DCATS is responsible for maintaining Defense Department communications transmission systems that involve satellite, wireless, fiber optic and microwave technologies.

The work will be done at a number of locations, including the United States, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Germany and Korea, the officials said. The contract was awarded through the Strategic Services Sourcing program.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
