L-3 to provide electronic warfare training to Navy

L-3 Communications Corp. will provide the Navy with training for counter electronic warfare under a contract modification worth $21.94 million.

L-3 Communications’ Flight International unit in Newport News, Va., will provide airborne threat simulation training for shipboard and aircraft squadron weapon systems operators and aircrews.

The goal is to enhance their abilities to counter potential enemy electronic warfare and electronic attack operations in an electronic combat environment.

The modification is to a previously awarded firm fixed price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for commercial air services, and military operations support, company officials said.

Work will be divided equally between Newport News and San Diego, and is expected to be completed in October 2009.

The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

L-3 Communications Corp., of New York City, ranks No. 8 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
