General Dynamics to assist Navy with radio systems

General Dynamics will help build and integrate radio systems for Navy command-and-control and information systems under a new contract.

General Dynamics Information Technology was one of the winners of a multiple-award contract to provide the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center Pacific with radio communications services.

Under the contract, General Dynamics IT will furnish SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific’s Radio Frequency Communications Division with program management and systems engineering support, testing and evaluation, and integrated logistics support, company officials said April 1.

The company also will provide on-site technical assistance, network security, and implementation and integration of radio frequency, command-and-control and information systems, the officials said.

If all options are exercised, the contract has a potential value of $82 million over five years.

General Dynamics IT is a unit of General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va.. The parent company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
