SAIC to support Army records management system

Science Applications International Corp. has won a task order potentially worth $48 million over five years to support the interactive system that holds Army personnel information.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide information technology and information management services for the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System, company officials said Feb. 19. Specific services the company will deliver include program management, customer support, enterprise architecture and planning, information assurance, and system integration, the officials said.

The electronic records management system makes it easier for the Army to store and access hundreds of millions of document images by replacing previous paper- and microfiche-based approaches. Staff can use the system to maintain, retrieve and transfer military personnel files and access them online in a Web-based environment.

The Army Human Resources Command oversees the system. The one-year contract, which has four option years, was awarded through the Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-2 Services contract.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
