Maximus Inc. will provide administrative assistance to Iowa under a three-year contract worth about $7.1 million.

The Iowa Department of Human Services awarded Maximus’ Health Services division the rebid contract for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which covers the medical needs of uninsured children.

Under the contract, Maximus will continue to determine eligibility and manage the enrollment of children in health and dental plans under the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa program.

Maximus has provided continuous administrative support for the program since 2000. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining an enrollment and financial accounting system and a Web-based application for use by external customers, company officials said.

Maximus, of Reston, Va., provides program management and operations services to federal, state and local agencies. The company has more than 6,000 employees in more than 220 offices in the United States, Canada and Australia.
