ITS to spur IT growth at Agriculture Department

ITS Corp. will help the Agriculture Department develop new information technology systems under a three-year, $36.8 million General Services Administration task order.

ITS, a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ North America, will work with USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service to develop, enhance and maintain IT systems.

APHIS’ mission is to protect the value and health of U.S. agriculture and its associated natural resources.

The task order calls for enhancements to APHIS’ Comprehensive Electronic Permitting System, and the design and creation of a new agricultural risk management system and a new information management system for the Investigative and Enforcement Services division.

It also covers the further development of APHIS’ Plant Health Information and Integrated Survey Information systems.

The GSA task order was awarded under the Applications'N Support for Widely-diverse End-user Requirements (ANSWER) contract, an IT governmentwide acquisition contract vehicle.

ITS’ parent company QinetiQ North America, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 24 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
