Unisys extends New Jersey Medicaid pact
Unisys Corp. will continue processing and paying Medicaid claims for New Jersey under a contract extension.
Unisys Corp. will continue processing and paying Medicaid claims for New Jersey under a three-year, $126 million contract extension.
The extension continues the company’s role as the state’s Medicaid fiscal agent and Medicaid Management Information System provider. Unisys provides services under the contract to more than 1 million enrolled recipients and processes more than $7 billion in annual benefit payments, company officials said.
The contract includes two option years and project enhancements that could bring the value to $212 million, they added.
Unisys has been New Jersey’s Medicaid fiscal agent since 1989. The company is responsible for processing and paying more than 117 million medical and pharmaceutical claims annually and serving thousands of doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, therapists and pharmacies that treat beneficiaries of the state’s Medicaid program.
The company also processes health care claims for other state programs, such as New Jersey’s General Assistance program, which provides welfare assistance to residents without children; the Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled program; and the Senior Gold Prescription Discount Program for senior citizens.
Unisys, of Blue Bell, Pa., ranks No. 26 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
