Elbit purchases Innovative Concepts

Elbit Systems of America has acquired Innovative Concepts, a wireless communications company, for $15 million in cash.

Elbit Systems of America LLC has acquired Innovative Concepts Inc., a wireless communications company, for $15 million in cash.

The acquisition will enhance Elbit's command, control and networking solutions capabilities in the U.S. market, company officials said. The acquisition also augments Elbit's battlefield management systems offerings with data networking capability.

Elbit, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd. of Israel, said Innovative Concepts would become part of Elbit's advanced command, control, communications, computers and intelligence systems business, which provides solutions to the Defense and Homeland Security departments.

Innovative Concepts specializes in design, production and support of real-time embedded systems and high-speed processing solutions. It was sold by Herley Industries Inc.

Elbit Systems Ltd. ranked No. 86 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
