SAIC gets defense intelligence work

Science Applications International Corp. will provide linguistic, data and intelligence support to the National Media Exploitation Center under a contract worth a maximum of $254 million.

The six-month contract, awarded by the Defense Intelligence Agency, has four one-year options, company officials said.

The National Media Exploitation Center coordinates efforts to analyze information from electronic media, videotapes, electronic equipment, paper documents and other media obtained by the U.S. military in Afghanistan and other foreign countries. Analysis of this information generates investigative leads for counterterrorism.

Most of the work will be performed overseas, company officials said.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
