Qwest to connect NASA

Qwest Government Services will deliver a range of voice and data services to NASA centers and facilities under an $18 million contract.

Qwest will furnish communications services to the Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, Johnson Space Center and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, company officials said.

NASA awarded the work through Networx Universal, which is part of the General Services Administration's Networx communications program.

The NASA contract follows another Networx award Qwest recently won to provide voice and data services to the Veterans Affairs Department. Under that award, Qwest is furnishing network and communications services to VA's Washington headquarters and about 1,300 hospitals, regional offices and other facilities nationwide.

Qwest Government Services, of Arlington, Va., is a unit of Qwest Communications International Inc., of Denver. The parent company ranks No. 51 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
