ACS to continue Calif. municipal outsourcing job

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a contract extension to continue providing outsourced information technology services to Santa Clara, Calif.

Under the contract, ACS will continue to operate the city's data center, manage its IT infrastructure, and furnish application and project management services. The company also will provide help desk and field service support.

The contract is worth about $5 million, company officials said.

ACS also will deploy new technologies and refurbish existing facilities. For example, the company plans to deploy a pilot program for voice-over-IP phone service and a new e-mail system. It also plans to redesign the city's data center.

ACS, of Dallas, provides IT and business process outsourcing services to the commercial and government sectors. The company ranks No. 68 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
