SRA closes Era acquisition

SRA International Inc. has completed its acquisition of Era Corp., a provider of next-generation surveillance and flight-tracking technologies to the commercial and defense sectors.

The acquisition will boost SRA's capabilities in the growing market for advanced surveillance technologies, company officials said. SRA had announced its intension to purchase the company on April 30.

Era provides technologies for air traffic management, airport operations, and military and security uses. The company specializes in multilateration, Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast and other technologies that are designed to provide reliable, high-performance surveillance solutions.

Era has about 300 employees and more than 100 customers around the globe. It has production facilities and research and development centers in the United States and the Czech Republic.

SRA, of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 32 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.

Era is based in Reston, Va.
