Westwood Computer Corp., a federal systems integrator, has changed its name to Emtec Federal to more closely identify with parent company Emtec Inc. The name change was announced today.
Westwood of Springfield, N.J., chose to become Emtec Federal to unify the companies under a single brand. The unit will maintain the same contracts and serve the same customers that Westwood has served while retaining its small-business contractor status.
In addition, Emtec Federal has developed an enhanced service program that will be known as Emtec Technical Consulting Organization. The program will focus on technology practice areas such as enterprise architecture, data management, data centers and consulting and integration services.
"We're confident that Westwood's customers in the government market will realize great advantages going forward under the Emtec brand," said Keith Grabel, president of Emtec Federal. "The enhancements to our service model were conceived with those customers in mind, to fulfill a specific demand that had been voiced to us."
The company already has expanded its technical team to more than 75 architects and engineers, which increases its resources in the areas of consulting, storage and data management, company officials said.
Emtec Inc. is based in Marlton, N.J. Emtec Federal, as Westwood Computer, ranked No. 75 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
