Lockheed Martin blends business areas

Lockheed Martin Corp. has combined its Integrated Systems and Solutions business area with its Information Technology and Global Services unit, an internal shift that company officials say will improve the quality of support it can offer to customers.

The new business area created from the combination is called Information Systems and Global Services and will be based in Gaithersburg, Md., under the leadership of Linda Gooden. She served as executive vice president of the IT and Global Services unit prior to the reorganization. The company is headquartered in Bethesda, Md.

While the new business will include most of the components of the two units being combined, Lockheed Martin is moving a few functions into other areas. These shifts are:

• Aircraft and logistics centers, now part of IT&GS, will move to the Aeronautics business area.
  
• Management of Sandia National Laboratories and the company's piece of the joint venture that manages the Atomic Weapons Establishment in the United Kingdom, both now part of IT&GS, will move to Electronic Systems.
  
• The Advanced Concepts organization, including the Center for Innovation ? now reporting to IS&S ? will report to the chief technology officer.

• Ray Johnson, currently vice president and chief technology officer, promoted to senior vice president and CTO.
  
• Sondra Barbour, currently vice president of internal audit, promoted to vice president of shared services.
  
• Maryanne Lavan, vice president of ethics and business conduct, will take over as vice president of internal audit.
