MTC to assist with Army flight training

MTC Technologies Inc. won a five-year, $7.2 million contract to deliver emergency egress training systems and services to the Army Aviation Warfighting Center.

Under the contract, MTC and its subcontractor, Lear Siegler Services Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., will conduct the center's "dunker training." This training and certification program ensures Army pilots have the means to survive emergency situations that can occur during rotary-wing flights operations over water.

The MTC team will furnish training devices and simulators. It also will provide 15 employees to administer the program and give classroom and hands-on training, conduct water exercises, evaluate student performance, certify students and maintain the pool and equipment.

The Aviation Warfighter Center at Fort Rucker, Ala., is a new customer for MTC. The work is initially funded for $1.3 million, but carries four option years through 2011, which would bring the contract total to $7.2 million. Lear Siegler Services will deliver the systems and training at Fort Rucker.

The MCI-led team will hold a two-day course for initial entry rotary-wing aviation students, and a one-day refresher course for experienced pilots. It will train annually up to 3,750 Army rotary-wing aviators and students.

The award was made under the Operations, Plans, Training and Resource Support Services contract.

MTC of Dayton, Ohio, has about 2,900 people in more than 40 locations and posted 2005 revenue of $373.3 million. The company ranks No. 34 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
