Viisage, Identix morph into L-1 Identity Solutions

The shareholders and boards of directors of Viisage Technology Inc. and Identix Inc. approved their merger this week, forming the new company L-1 Identity Solutions Inc.

The portfolio of L-1 Identity Solutions companies ? including Viisage and Identix, Integrated Biometric Technology, SecuriMetrics Inc. and Iridian Technologies Inc. ? will focus on solutions for protecting and securing personal identities and assets.

Robert LaPenta, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, will lead the Stamford, Conn., company.

The previous companies will continue to operate and develop their products and services as divisions of L-1 Identity Solutions, officials said. L-1 Identity Solutions also will focus on the federal, civil, criminal, commercial, border security and management markets.
