Stratos Government Services Inc. is a single-source integrator of several commercial satellite technologies that offer airtime, hardware, installation, network engineering and management, customer support and other value-added services worldwide for the Defense Department and federal and state government agencies.
The new company will let Stratos expand its integration services and feature one-stop solutions across multiple satellite technologies to meet government requirements, company officials said.
Bob Roe, previously Stratos' senior vice president of mobile satellite systems, has been appointed president of SGSI. He has 30 years of experience in commercial and government satellite sectors, including 22 years in the Navy, where he worked in the communications fields for maritime, land mobile, aviation and intelligence commands.
Based in Bethesda, Md., Stratos provides a range of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions for the commercial and public sectors. The company had 2005 revenue of $381 million.
