CDW-G to supply desktops to State Department

CDW Government Inc. won three contracts totaling more than $13 million to deliver about 16,000 Lenovo desktop computers and third-party components to the State Department. The PC procurement is the department's largest to date.

Under the contracts, CDW-G will supply large-format LCD displays and integrated specialized networking and storage components required by the State Department's Global Information Technology Modernization initiative.

The program provides life-cycle computer upgrades and ensures that classified and unclassified systems incorporate new technology developments for computers in the department's overseas and domestic offices.

For the modernization program's desktop refreshment, under two contracts worth about $11.7 million CDW-G will furnish more than 15,000 Lenovo ThinkCentre M51 desktops and large-format LCD displays. For the advanced desktop refreshment, worth about $1.4 million, the company will deliver nearly 1,000 Lenovo ThinkCentre M51 mini-towers integrated with gigabit Ethernet communications and high performance hard drives along with large-format LCD displays.

CDW-G is integrating and shipping the systems in stages over a six-month period, delivering about 500 units to the State Department each week through mid-April. The company's services include managing a 10 percent emergency response inventory and enhanced warranty service program.

CDW-G is a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Corp. of Vernon Hills, Ill. The subsidiary sells computer hardware, software, equipment and peripherals specifically to public education institutions and government agencies.

CDW-G had annual revenue of almost $1.9 billion in fiscal 2005, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas. The company ranks No. 56 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
