Manatron buys Plexis Group

Manatron Inc. has acquired Plexis Group LLC, a provider of software solutions and support services, for $1 million cash.

The Kalamazoo, Mich., company paid $600,000 at closing and will pay $400,000 with interest via a promissory note over two years.

The acquisition of the Indianapolis software company brings to Manatron new customers and significantly expands its customer base with Indiana local government.

Plexis has long-standing relationships with 20 Indiana counties. The company provides software products and services for computer assisted mass appraisal, property tax assessment and geographic information system applications.

As for Plexis' leadership, President Tom Longest will become regional vice president of sales and business development with Manatron, while Plexis Vice President Scott Stephens will serve as product manager for geospatial technologies and e-government solutions.

Manatron, a provider of Web-based and client-server application software products for local government, has about 365 employees and annual sales of $40.2 million,
according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
