Alion Science and Technology wins defense training work

Alion Science and Technology Corp. has won a $3.9 million contract from the Defense Department to support DOD's training and transformation (T2) initiative, the company has announced.

Under the contract, Alion of McLean, Va., will assist the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Joint Staff J7 for Defense Task Development in the developing and implementing interagency tasks and updating and revising the T2 plans and department policies.

The department purposely has shifted the operational planning and training emphasis from deliberate war planning to adaptive planning with other federal, state and local agencies and with other governments.

The department believes these efforts will lead to the creation of processes and training capabilities that will better prepare the armed forces to learn, improvise and adapt to constantly changing missions.

Alion has 2,600 employees and annual sales of $269.9 million. The company ranks No. 63 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
