Northrop Grumman Corp. won a contract from the Air Force to provide IT upgrades to increase the readiness and life of weapon systems, officials of the Los Angeles company said today.
The task order contract is worth up to $49.8 million over three years to Northrop Grumman's Herndon, Va., Information Technology unit.
The contract is administered by the Materiel Systems Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Northrop Grumman will provide data services, including government-furnished hardware operation, help desk support, database administration, configuration management, system testing and applications software development.
The company also will help the Air Force migrate the Reliability and Maintainability Information System to the Global Combat Support System, Air Force Integration Framework, which will let users share data across domains, such as supply, maintenance and transportation. The Reliability and Maintainability Information System is the central, common source of all unclassified maintenance information for Air Force weapons systems.
Northrop Grumman has supported the system's modernization efforts for the past four years, said Kent Schneider, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Defense Enterprise Solutions.
Work on the contract will be done at Northrop Grumman's Beavercreek, Ohio, site.
