Titan opens new offices

Titan Corp. will open a new 16-story office complex in the Reston, Va., technology and defense corridor tomorrow to accommodate its growing workforce in the Washington metropolitan area, the company said.

The new 280,000 square-foot facility, located at Two Freedom Square at Reston Town Center, can accommodate more than 1,000 employees. When Titan was founded in 1981, it had "a handful of employees working from an office in Tysons Corner, Va.," said Gene Ray, the company's chairman, president and chief executive officer. It now has nearly 3,000 workers in the greater Washington area.

The San Diego-based defense contractor has approximately 12,000 employees, and plans to add 900 more this year in addition to the 1,800 people across the country it hired during the first six months of 2004, said Larry Delaney, Titan's executive vice president for operations.

The new building in Reston will serve as Titan's Washington-area headquarters for five of its eight business sectors that provide technology and systems to the Defense and Homeland Security departments, the intelligence community and other government agencies.

Titan had revenue of $1.8 billion in 2003. The company is No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2004 list of federal prime contractors.
