CSC nabs medical data deal
Computer Sciences Corp. has won a five-year, $74.8 million contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide hospital data abstraction and data validation services.
Computer Sciences Corp. has won a five-year, $74.8 million contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide hospital data abstraction and data validation services, the company announced this week.
CSC of El Segundo, Calif., will provide CMS' Clinical Data Abstraction Center with medical record abstraction, data entry, sampling, coding and validation of diagnosis-related groups to support CMS. CMS is part of the Health and Human Services Department.
KePro Inc. of Harrisburg, Pa., which is partnering with CSC on the project, will provide quality assurance training, validation and medical review.
About 140 medical record technicians, nurses, doctors and data analysts from CSC's Health Programs organizations will perform the work in York, Pa., and Columbia, Md.
CSC provides systems integration, information technology and business processing outsourcing, applications software development, Web application hosting and management consulting services.
CSC has 90,000 employees and annual sales of $14.9 billion. The company ranked No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
