ACS acquires Patient Accounting Services Center

Affiliated Computer Services of Dallas has acquired Patient Accounting Services Center LLC of Kent, Wash., for $94 million.

Affiliated Computer Services of Dallas has acquired Patient Accounting Services Center LLC of Kent, Wash., for $94 million cash, the company announced this week.

The acquisition of PASC will enhance ACS' service offerings to the healthcare market by adding provider billings, receivables and collections management to ACS' list of business process outsourcing services as well as augment the company's customer service capabilities.

"This strategic acquisition will add proven technology, proprietary techniques, a highly experienced management team, and a fully dedicated employee base to ACS' healthcare services business," said Lynn Blodgett, group president of ACS' Commercial Solutions.

ACS currently provides information technology services and case management software applications to more than 550 hospitals nationwide. The company also provides BPO claims processing services for 9 of the nation's top 10 health plans. The transaction expands the suite of BPO solutions that ACS can offer its new and existing healthcare clients, the company said.

In addition to its commercial healthcare business, ACS is one of the largest providers of Medicaid support services in the nation. The company currently provides decision support and data warehouse services supporting Medicaid systems in 14 states.

PASC has more than 1,000 employees and is expected to generate revenue of $68 million in calendar 2003.

ACS has more than 40,000 employees and annual sales of $3.7 billion. The company was ranked No. 16 in the Washington Technology 2003 Top 100 list.
