Raytheon buys Australian unit of Honeywell

Raytheon Co. has acquired the Honeywell Aerospace and Defense Services, an Australian business unit of Honeywell International Inc.

Raytheon Co. has acquired the Honeywell Aerospace and Defense Services, an Australian business unit of Honeywell International Inc., the company announced today. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Through the acquisition, Raytheon of Lexington, Mass., expects to enhance its capabilities in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and precision management as well as establish itself as the principal provider of integrated aerospace support services to the Australian Defense Forces.

Honeywell Aerospace and Defense Services has become part of Raytheon Australia Pty Ltd., and is now aligned with Raytheon Technical Services Co. of Reston, Va.

Raytheon, a provider of defense, government and commercial electronics, space, information technology, technical services and aircraft, has more than 76,000 employees and had annual sales of $16.8 billion in 2002. It ranked No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2003 Top 100 list.
