Maximus tracks down Tenn. child support deal

Maximus Inc. has won a five-year, $7.3 million contract to operate a full-service child support program in a west Tennessee judicial district, the company announced June 11.

Under the contract, Maximus of Reston, Va., will provide child support services to five counties in the state's 25th judicial district: Fayette, Hardeman, Lauderdale, McNairy and Tipton, the company said.

The company will provide case processing; location of nonpaying, noncustodial parents; establishment of paternity for children born outside of marriage; and establishment of court-ordered child support obligations and court orders to provide medical support.

The company also will monitor payment compliance, take administrative and judicial action to enforce compliance and modify child support orders as necessary.

Maximus expects to collect more than $94 million in child support for families residing in the district over the life of the contract.

Tennessee provides child support services to families through 31 judicial districts. Private contractors operate ten of these, and the rest are operated by government agencies. Maximus operates four of the 10 privately operated programs.

Maximus, a provider of program management, consulting and information technology services to state and local government, has more than 5,500 employees and annual sales of $518 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
