Lockheed Martin wins TSA airport screeners training contract

Lockheed Martin Corp. won the Transportation Security Administration's Specialized Security Training contract, an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with a one-year base and four one-year options. The initial value of the contract is $8.9 million, the company said May 8.

The tasks under the contract include providing basic passenger and baggage screener training, recertification and cross-training to existing screeners. Training services may also be provided for federal air marshals, federal flight deck officers, and state and local law enforcement officers, along support other parts of Homeland Security and other departments.

This is not Lockheed Martin's first contract with TSA. In June 2002, the company won a contract worth up to $490 million to coordinate the implementation of new screening and security measures at 429 commercial airports across the United States.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 125,000 people worldwide. The company reported 2002 revenue of $26.6 billion.
