IBM Corp. is adding new programs and is expanding the colleges and universities available through its eArmyU contract to provide e-learning services to the Army.
The eArmyU program has more than 30,000 enrolled soldiers taking classes at participating colleges. With the latest expansion, 32 colleges and universities are now offering about 3,000 courses and 150 academic degrees.
IBM picked up the eArmyU program when it purchased PwC Consulting. The contract was awarded in December 2000 and is worth $454 million over five years. By 2005, IBM expects 80,000 soldiers to be enrolled.
Twelve new undergraduate and graduate schools and at least 68 additional degree programs will be phased into eArmyU over the next six to nine months.
