Hadron lands ELVIS for $163 million

Its Subsidiary, Analex Corp., will provide engineering services for NASA's Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support program office.

Hadron Inc. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Analex Corp., won a $163.7 million contract from NASA's Kennedy Space Center for engineering services for the Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support program office. If all options are exercised, the contract will last for nine years and four months.Hadron of Alexandria, Va., said the ELVIS contract is expected to increase the company's employees to more than 550 and its revenue by more than $17 million per year over the life of the contract. The company announced the award May 29.Joining Analex's team are Science Applications International Corp., San Diego; Swales Aerospace Inc., Beltsville, Md.; and a.i. solutions Inc., Lanham, Md.Analex will provide a broad range of support services at Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, both in Florida, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and other launch locations. Responsibilities include managing, operating and maintaining facilities, systems and equipment, as well as providing some technical and administrative capabilities, such as engineering services, performing safety and mission assurance functions, and providing communications, data and telemetry support.At Vandenberg, Analex also will be responsible for maintaining NASA's administrative, launch support and spacecraft facilities, mission support planning and customer support for payload processing activities.The contract has a one-month phase-in period beginning June 1, followed by a three-year, three-month base period, with a value of $54.9 million. There are two three-year options, which bring the potential contract value to $163.7 million."We are delighted to be selected to support NASA in one of the agency's most critical mission areas," said Sterling Phillips, Hadron's president and chief executive officer. "When we acquired Analex [in November 2001] we had confidence it was the premier ELV engineering contracting company."Hadron's shareholders recently approved changing the company's name to Analex Corp., "a name that has broader recognition in the company's key markets," according to the press release. The change will occur during the third quarter of 2002.
