DSA Wins $20 Million Knowledge Center Deal
Data Systems Analysts Inc. has won a $20 million contract by the Army to manage and further develop an online knowledge center and integrated data environment.
Data Systems Analysts Inc. of Pennsauken, N.J., has been awarded a $20 million contract by the Army to manage and further develop an online knowledge center and integrated data environment, the company announced Sept. 23.
The center allows thousands of registered users to share knowledge and improve work and communications processes. The contract, including three optional years, runs through September 2005.
The award comes after several years of collaborative work on the project between the Army and DSA. Maj. Gen. Steven Boutelle, program executive officer for the Army's Command, Control and Communications Systems at Fort Monmouth, N.J., describes the knowledge center Web site as "combining technological wizardry with meaningful content."
The portal, which is a channel for decision making, group interaction and systems support, has improved team performance and significantly reduced travel and communications costs, according to Emerson Keslar, Army Special Projects Officer.
A recent return on investment study found that the $2.5 million investment in the Web site has generated $23.5 million in savings, and 75 percent of users believe it has increased productivity, according to DSA.
Hits on the Web site average more than 700,000 a month and are growing at a rate of 15 percent per month. Multiple users conduct real-time meetings online, and more than 12,000 documents are available on the site.
Enhancing the portal are its links to other Army, Defense Department and commercial Web sites.
DSA will support the ongoing operations of the knowledge center office at Fort Monmouth, and will continue to develop new capabilities to enhance the portal.
