Tyler Wins Financial Services Contract with Albany

Tyler Technologies Inc. won a $1.6 million financial software and services contract with Albany County, N.Y., the Dallas-based company said May 29.

The contract includes implementation of the company's enterprise resource planning software, called MUNIS, for financial, payroll and personnel and revenue and tax systems. The applications purchased by Albany County are based on relational databases and open architecture.

The implementation will take place in three phases, said county and company officials. Phase one will include payroll and personnel applications; phase two includes financial and most of the of the tax and revenue applications; and phase three includes the delinquent tax application. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2002, said the company.

Among the companies that competed against Tyler for the contract were American Management Systems Inc., Fairfax, Va.; Oracle Corp., Redwood Shores, Calif.; and PeopleSoft, of Pleasonton, Calif., said Joe Pennisi, commissioner of the Department of Management and Budget, Albany County.

Tyler's financial applications are installed in about 700 sites, primarily in the eastern and southern regions of the country, said Brian Miller, Tyler's vice president of finance. Among the company's larger customers with projects of this kind are Buffalo, N.Y., and the Kentucky Board of Education, he said.

Tyler has more than 1,200 employees and had $93.2 million in sales in fiscal 2000, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
