Lockheed Martin Plucks Orange County Service Deal

NOV. 16 ? Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., won an 11-year, $260 million contract to provide a variety of information technology services to Orange County, Calif.


The overall value of the contract may reach more than $500 million as the result of a contract clause that allows the company's division, Lockheed Martin Information Management Systems to sell additional services and surplus capacity to other clients.

The additional revenue is intended to help reduce the overall costs of the contract to the county, said the company.


As part of the base contract, Lockheed Martin IMS will upgrade the county's telecommunications infrastructure, provide application development and support for electronic government initiatives and manage the county's data center.


The contract also calls for Lockheed Martin IMS and its partners to provide mainframe computing, telecommunications, applications, help desk and desktop services to the county.


Lockheed Martin IMS has provided information systems and telecommunications services to Orange County since 1985 when it began managing the county's data center.


"The county's data center has been a model for other counties across the country," said Mike Sinkinson, vice president and managing director of information resource management for Lockheed Martin IMS. "We're excited about taking an already outstanding infrastructure and data center and enhancing it with technological upgrades so that it can better serve Orange County residents."
