SAIC board adds new member to further build diversity

Science Applications International Corp.'s board of directors has named a former KPMG managing partner as a new member. That appointment means seven out of 11 directors are women or member of a minority group.

Science Applications International Corp.'s board of directors has elected a new member in Milford McGuirt, retired managing partner of KPMG’s Atlanta office.

SAIC Board Chair Donna Morea cited McGuirt’s experience as a managing partner and work he has done around innovation, strategy and collaboration.

McGuirt will “bring additional strength to SAIC as the company builds on its reputation as a top provider of digital transformation solutions,” Morea said in a release Tuesday.

He will serve on the board’s audit committee and nominating and corporate governance committee.

The appointment of McGuirt brings the number of SAIC board members to 11. He also adds to the diversity of the board, which now is two-thirds women and people of color.

In recent years, many companies have put more emphasis on diversity at the board and executive levels. SAIC now has five women on its board and two African American men. The company has a woman as the chair of its board in Morea and a female CEO in Nazzic Keene.
