OPM seeks IT support for background investigations
The Office of Personnel Management is working on a new contract for IT support services for the systems OPM uses for background investigations.
Systems OPM is seeking support for include the Field Work System and the Non-Field Work System. Both connect into a variety of other systems such as the Selective Service, Bureau of Vital Statistics, credit check systems, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, the FBI and others.
OPM needs a contractor that can provide management and technical support for the IT lifecycle. This includes project management, end-user support, requirement documentation, resolution of defects and other issues.
The draft statement of work provides a rich amount of data on the systems and the kind of support OPM is looking for. For example, the notice goes into detail about the software components such as FWS Service Layer, Field Document Respository, PIPS web services and Microsoft Bing map services.
There also is a long list of specific software in uses such as Microsoft.NET, Windows Communication Foundation, Silverlight and Entity Framework.
OPM has identified the project manager and the lead developer as key personnel. OPM expects most of the work to take place on the contractor’s site.
Comments are due May 3.
