Education Department looking for IT investment support

The Education Department intends to issue a solicitation in October for a five-year contract for IT investment management support.

According to the draft request for proposals, the contract will be set aside for 8(a) certified small businesses.

The contractor would help department officials with procurement and effective management of the department’s information systems and services. The work would support IT governance and IT Investment Management programs, including capital planning and investment control, IT portfolio management, budget formulation, and enterprise architecture.

The department spends roughly $700 million annually for IT resources, and its IT portfolio includes more than 140 investments, which are key to its operations.

The department released its draft RFP Sept. 27 and a draft performance work statement Sept. 20.
