Congressman stresses importance of better standards for Internet of Things

At a recent Internet of Things event, Rep. Darrell Issa (R.-Calif.) stressed the importance of better standards and privacy protections as the number of connected Internet of Things devices increases, according to FCW.

The balance between privacy and encouraging innovation is difficult at times, but should not deter organizations from pursuing IoT technologies because the potential benefits are too great, FCW quoted Issa as saying.

Terrell McSweeny, Federal Trade Commissioner, made a similar point in February, FCW reported, stressing the importance of finding the balance between protecting privacy of consumers and optimizing innovation.
