Eight sequester cuts worth watching

OMB report reveal first round of cuts

The Office of Management and Budget released a breakdown of cuts March 1 that must be implemented now as part of sequestration.

Several cuts likely will have an immediate effect on contractors. Among the cuts in its report to Congress, we highlight these eight:

  • $212 million NASA space operations
  • $44 million from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Affordable Insurance Exchange grants
  • $31 million from the Defense Department’s acquisition workforce development fund
  • $29 million from the National Institute of Standard and Technology’s scientific and technical research
  • $17 million from IRS business systems modernization
  • $16 million from Homeland Security Department’s office of the chief information officer
  • $15 million National Science Foundation research and related activities
  • $10 million from Housing and Urban Development’s IT portfolio

It would be interesting to see what percentage of their overall each of these cuts represents. If it's 2% it's managable (if they WANT to manage any problem)... 20% or so, well a bigger issue, of course.

We should have Congress adopt risk reward behavior in association with their compensation.Things might then actually get done...

Sequestration is so stupid when you think about it. I mean the Federal Reserve (neither federal nor any reserve) creates money out of thin air and loans it to government and we actually pay interest for the privilege of their doing something we as a government can do? so my point is if money is being created out of thin air and quantitative easing is continuous just what is a budget crisis? we could be kazillions in the hole under the scam if the world is willing to go along with it. what is causing problems is the world has been divesting dollars to the extent it does not mess up their country's economy so the charade is going to end. hence why homeland security is buying more than two BILLION bullets, automatic rifles, and now armored troop carriers. when citizens of other countries found out what their leaders did they started uprising - a natural expression when one finds out their leaders stole from them big time. so all of these budget cuts are what really? we're getting slammed great with more taxes and on and on it goes until one dayyyy... poof! shtf!

The Federal Government is a type of welfare work program - a serious and independent investigative report into the wasteful Government jobs would show situations where military personnel are getting paid to manage programs but never show up to work (contractors do the work) and civilian Government workers hire contractors to do their jobs.
