ECS to enhance DHS situational awareness capabilities

Enhancements planned for National Operations Center

Electronic Consulting Services Inc. will help the Homeland Security Department improve the way it views incident information under a three-year, $9.6 million task order.

Under the task order, ECS will provide technology enhancements to DHS’ National Operations Center to improve its Common Operational Picture capabilities, company officials said today. A Common Operational Picture is a single, identical display of key information used across an organization.

Specifically, ECS will enhance information technology and analytical capabilities of the Common Operational Picture, the officials said. The improvements are designed to improve incident information management, decision support, information distribution and display capabilities.

The DHS National Operations Center monitors domestic security and helps coordinate incident and response activities. It coordinates information sharing to deter and prevent terrorist acts and manage domestic incidents.

ECS’s partners on the project are Boeing Co. and Ardent Management Consulting, the officials said.

The department awarded the task order through the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions program, known as Eagle.

ECS, of Fairfax, Va., provides system engineering and IT services to federal government agencies.
