NCI to oversee National Guard communications

NCI Inc. will assist National Guard units in the National Capital Region with communication technologies under a contract that might be worth as much as $173 million.

Under the contract, NCI will manage all information technology and telecommunications equipment and systems used by the Army National Guard and Air National Guard in the National Capital Region, company officials said today in a statement.

The award, made through the Information Technology Enterprise Solutions-2 Services program, expands the scope of work that NCI already performs for the customers, they said.

The contract covers data and voice communications, computer security, e-mail and Web services, server and desktop support, video and audio conferencing, and other related services. The contract's base period is 10 months, and options would extend it through 2015, company officials said.

NCI, of Reston, Va., ranks No. 78 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
